PREMIERE: TRI SESTRI (DREI SCHWESTERN)

On the 6th of March, the first night of the Tri Sestri opera composed by a modern Hungarian composer Péter Eötvös following Anton Chekhov’s play took place at the Wiener Staatsoper. The performance saw a great success.

Aida Garifullina starred as Irina, the younger sister of the Prozorovs. Alongside with Aida, Russians Margarita Gritskova (Masha) and Ilseyar Khayrullova (Olga) participated. Initially, the parties for sisters were written for men’s voices, however, Péter Eötvös wrote these roles for Russian singers of the Wiener Staatsoper following Dominique Meyer’s proposal. It was a right choice, according to audience applause.

Tri Sestri opera will be available on-line. On March 18, the Wiener Staatsoper will broadcast the performance (Russian users will be able to watch it next day). See detailed at the web-site www.staatsoperlive.com
